Massage Therapy for Human and Equine Athletes
This is not a "no pain, no gain treatment". Working out active trigger points may occasionally feel "intense". Massage should not HURT.
At Jump Start, I facilitate pain free movement with technique and feel for the soft tissues and limitations of the joints. A gradual increase in pressure is experienced by the client on the muscles. Ultimately, realignment of the soft tissue corrects the muscles so they can effectively pull the bones in the proper direction- i.e. Pain Free Movement.
The goal is to get the tissues to return to their normal resting length. If they are contracted I will stretch them. If they are over-stretched and ischemic, I will get those muscle fibers firing so the muscle and fascia, contract back to their normal resting length. Muscles may also have tight bands and/or adhesions that can be worked out, released and realigned
The Client participates in their own process by resistant exercises such as active isolated stretching, and their own home self-care program. It is important for you, the client, to know that pain is not the order of the day... your well being is.
Sports Massage is a technique that I use to stimulate circulation and loosen up muscle fibers so the athlete is spending less time and energy in warm-ups, and more time getting in their zone for peak performance.
Post Workout Recovery Massage is important for reducing recovery time. This also decreases injuries, because, when a muscle is returned to its resting state, it is less likely to become hyper contractile, which would result in a muscular pull, or strain during work the next time. This also helps the toxins in the tissues to resolve much quicker, reducing soreness and improving circutation.
Fascial Stretching is an important aspect of massage. As fasia covers every organ, muscle and tendon in the body. When this gets injured the locomotion of the client is compromised.
Postural Alignment, is facilitated, by releasing contracted muscles, tendons and fascia. Once those tissues are in a resting state, the over stretched ischemic tissues opposing those tissues can be reactivated and brought back into alignment. This Is different than Chiropractic treatment. I, the massage therapist, align muscles, and the chiropractor aligns the bones. If the muscles continue to be adhesive, contractile and/or overstretched, the client will continue to experience the same chronic issues.
Breathing Technique is another area that I enjoy educating my clients on. We all breath, but how effectively? When we "breathe wih purpose" our bodies respond in a profound physiological relaxed manner.
Self Care Education is a huge part of a visit with me. I love to help people help themselves. Your massage will have longer lasting effects when you take part in your own wellness. This includes, stretching, strengthening, diet, and of course drinking LOT'S OF WATER.
Univera nutritional supplements. This are fantastic products for boosting energy, maintaining a healthy balance, and reducing recovery time. You can order online using my Associate Number 1362481. Please call or visit, for more information on which product may be best for your body.
